CSI deliver bespoke mobile archive storage solution to help Ferguson Group expand their business.

The Client

Headquartered in Aberdeen, the Ferguson Group provides high quality containers, modules, accommodation and equipment for the offshore energy industry as well as onshore services. With bases in Scotland, Norway, Singapore, Australia and UAE, Ferguson group have built up a reputation for excellent customer service, short lead times and high quality products.

The Challenge

Having undergone expansion, Ferguson were extending their building to make room for extra staff members. This included creating additional archive storage within their facility. Ferguson required the installation to take place within a tight footprint to help them maximise the existing space within their warehouse and office areas. Having forged a strong ongoing relationship with the client, CSI were invited to design and install the required archive storage solution for their building.

The Solution

After holding several discussions with Ferguson regarding their storage and spatial requirements, CSI provided a customised design plan that maximised the amount of archive storage Ferguson could achieve.   Manually operated Dexion mobile archive shelving was chosen for the installation as it created 50% more storage in half the space of standard shelving (which was used for Ferguson’s existing archive storage).

Specifically tailored to suit the documents and items being stored, the mobile shelving installed was separated into two systems compromising a total of 72 bays of shelving for an overall 400 linear metres of archive storage. The layout of the system (done with CAD design) ensured that maximum storage capacity was achieved within the tight footprint.

As the floors within the facility were not suitable to accept the additional loads, battens and floor jacks were fixed to give the extra strength required. Lockable aisles to provide added security for sensitive documents were included within the system.
