Oceaneering

CSI help oil and gas engineering firm Oceaneering realise full potential of new facility with the design and supply of new outside storage system.

The Client

Global suppliers of engineering services and products for the oil and gas industry specialising in deepwater applications, Oceaneering have 50 years of experience in the marketplace. Using their knowledge of applied technology, Oceaneering have recently diversified to also service the defence, entertainment and aerospace industries.

The Challenge

Oceaneering required the design and supply of a storage system for an outside stores area they were creating at their warehouse facility in Nigeria. Having impressed Oceaneering with the completion of several jobs for them in the Aberdeen area, CSI were invited to take on this project directly by the client.

The Solution

As the installation was to occur on another continent, CSI produced CAD drawings of a bespoke storage system based solely on client specifications.

Dexion P90 Standard Wide Aisle pallet racking was chosen for the system for its ability to store any type of pallet, modular nature and high load capacity. The proposed layout allowed for 17 bays of racking in total with a loading capacity of 9 tonnes per bay and 3 tonnes per level of racking. Timber decking was provided as an accessory to make sure the racking could support uneven loads or awkward sized pallets and column guards and end rails were supplied to ensure the system conformed to SEMA guidelines. As the installation was taking place outside, the racking had a pre-galvanised finish to protect it from the elements and allow a long-term storage solution.

Due to the remote nature of the job, CSI built the racking frames before delivery and double checked that all components were to exact specifications before they were shipped off.
