Schlumberger – Engineering Workshop

CSI help oilfield service provider Schlumberger improve their facility with the design and fit-out of new engineering workshop.

The Client

One of the world’s largest oilfield services providers, Schlumberger employ around 120,000 people and operate in over 85 countries. Schlumberger are global leaders in the supply of technology, integrated product management and information solutions to the oil and gas industry.

The Challenge

Schlumberger were in need of a new engineering workshop within a smaller floor space in order to incorporate a new lab within their facility. Having forged an ongoing relationship with Schlumberger, CSI were asked to quote for this project in a competitive tender situation.

The Solution

CSI held meetings with the Schlumberger design team to properly understand the requirements of the proposed workshop and conducted an in-depth site survey to find the best layout possible while still leaving room for the new lab area. CSI suggested the supply and installation of Bott cubio cabinets and workbenches for the new engineering workshop because of the different sizes, options and accessories available.

Modularly designed and with custom options available, the use of Bott equipment allowed a tailor made solution to be supplied that would make the most efficient use of the limited space available. The modular design of Bott products would allow the workshop to evolve with the changing requirements of Schlumberger’s facilities as it could be adapted or reconfigured as needed. ‘Built to last’ and with specially designed hard-wearing capabilities: robust housing with up to 1 tonne total capacity; galvanised shelves with 100kg U.D.L capacity; tough multiplex worktops; the Bott cubio range was a perfect match for the heavy-duty engineering applications that Schlumberger intended for their workshop.

For the security and safety that Schlumberger specified in their remit, the cubio range supplied had central locking systems as standard to provide a secure place for valuable tools and parts, and drawer blocking mechanisms to prevent more than one drawer from opening at a time for added safety. Ergonomically designed for ease of use, the Bott equipment benefitted Schlumberger’s workflow efficiency.

Taking up just half of the available space, the workshop was installed within the tight footprint, allowing the new lab area to be created and providing options to extend it in the future.
