Technip
CSI supply energy industry leader Technip with new engineering workshop and storage areas.
The Client
Technip are an international leader in providing project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry, in particular the oil and gas industry. With over 50 years experience in working on the deepest subsea oil and gas operations to the biggest and multifaceted offshore and onshore infrastructures, they constantly provide solutions and innovative state-of-the-art technology to meet the world’s energy challenges.
The Challenge
Technip were upgrading their warehouse facility, which included the creation of a new engineering workshop and stores area and the installation of a pallet storage area. CSI successfully tendered for this project having already completed several different developments for Technip in the Aberdeen area.
The Solution
Before beginning the installation CSI conducted a detailed site survey and held meetings with the Technip facilities manager in order to understand their workplace needs. CSI worked in partnership with Technip to deliver a high functioning and secure workshop along with a pallet storage system that best suited their requirements in terms of storage, access and workflow.
For the workshop, Bott cubio storage benches and cupboards were supplied and installed. Fully customisable, the benches and cupboards were tailor made to fit Technip’s exact requirements. The high load capacity of (up to 1 tonne), and the hard-wearing multiplex worktops on the workbenches perfectly suited the heavy-duty engineering processes that Technip needed them for. With integrated storage options available throughout the chosen range, all tools and parts could be stored in an organised and secure method. With the oil and gas industry constantly making improvements in the field of engineering, the modular design of Bott equipment allowed Technip’s workshop to be capable of evolving with these new engineering processes and designs. Technip could also be sure of the long-term capability of their workshop thanks to the robust design and high quality of the products supplied, which featured a 10 year guarantee as standard.
For the pallet storage area, Dexion P90 Silverline Racking complete with mesh-decking was chosen. The pallet storage system was designed to exactly fit the designated storage area and minimise its footprint. The system made the best use of the available space to ensure that up to 70 pallets could be stored, and access to these pallets was easily achievable. Technip could also easily adjust the system in the future to tailor it to their changing storage needs. The integrated mesh-decking permitted the storage of non-standard pallets of various depths. Tough, durable and industry standard safe according to SEMA practices, the pallet racking system created a stores area that matched the workshop area in long term capabilities and security.
