CSI maximises storage space at Weir with new storage solutions.

The Client

Weir Power and Industrial Services, part of the Weir Group, design and manufacture valves, pumps, hydro turbines and steam turbines for the industrial sector. Their Alloa Service Centre offers specialised installation and repair services as well as supplying Weir products.

The Challenge

Weir Power and Industrial Services were looking to improve the layout of their Alloa Service Centre in order to maximise their storage capacity. The company wanted to relocate their existing warehouse and create an additional storage facility.

Having previously installed pallet racking for the company, CSI (formerly ESE) successful tendered for this more ambitious project.

The Solution

CSI’s solutions team worked in partnership with staff at Weir to find new storage solutions that would maximise the company’s available space and suit their workflow.

A site survey showed that the existing pallet racking could be extended in the new location enabling Weir to significantly increase the number of storage levels in their Dexion P100 heavy duty racking.

Dexion P90 pallet racking was supplied and installed for the second store as Weir required a lighter duty system in this part of the facility.

For added security, CSI supplied the racking for both stores with close-boarded timber decks and rack end protection. The installation was divided into sections using anti-collapse mesh to make it easier for operatives to distinguish between stock lines, improving picking rates.

After completing the installation, Weir contacted CSI about updating their freestanding storage and workshop equipment. Through our CSI Products Catalogue, the company ordered a selection of Bott’s heavy duty workplace equipment.
